Artistic Director: Carla Stein

Artistic Director: The Artistic Director is an appointed position by the board. The Artistic Director is responsible for directing the initiatives for the Wordstorm year including the eight 15 Minutes of Infamy spoken word evenings, the workshops, any special events that arise during the year, and the website. In his or her capacity all or some of the above may be delegated or assigned by job description to other positions. The Artistic Director will provide leadership for all initiatives.


The Artistic Director is responsible for the management of membership, finances, promotions, advertising and partnerships and will provide leadership by being knowledgeable regarding all events involving WordStorm Society of the Arts and will chair the semi-annual board meetings and any special meetings of the board as they occur, as well as the AGM. 

Assistant Artistic Director: Ian Talbot

The Assistant Artistic Director is an elected position. The Assistant Artistic Director will work closely with the Artistic Director and be prepared to assume the duties of the Artistic Director, if the Artistic Director is absent.

Secretary/Treasurer: David Fraser

SecretaryTreasurer: The Secretary is an elected position. The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the minutes of all meetings and for maintaining up-to-date membership files. The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for emailing members or designating others on the board on his or her behalf to do this task. In the capacity as Treasurer, the Secretary/Treasurer will keep financial records, present annual reports and apply for funding if necessary.


These are elected positions. Directors-at-large are directors who sit on the board at meetings and offer advice and may be called upon to assist with initiatives or tasks within those initiatives. Examples of such tasks might be the following: staffing the book table, MC for WordStorm, assisting with the judging process, set-up, staffing the door, general help for workshops and other initiatives, assisting any of the other Directors and the Artistic Director with their responsibilities.
