About the Event
Join Wordstorm this May for Metaphorically Speaking, our online open mic. This month we feature the work of Neil Surkan.
Neil was born in Penticton, BC. He is the author of the poetry collections Unbecoming (Fall 2021) and On High (2018), both from McGill-Queen’s University Press, and the chapbooks Their Queer Tenderness (Knife-Fork-Book, 2020) and Super, Natural (Anstruther Press, 2017). His award-winning poems and literary reviews have appeared in numerous Canadian magazines; most recently, he was awarded the 2021 Riddle Fence Poetry Prize. Neil currently lives and teaches in Nanaimo, on the traditional and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, with Luca, Edi, and Lloyd.
Writers of all genres are encouraged to share their work at the open mic. Please limit the length of work you share to five minutes. To have your name added to the open mic roster, email: wordstormsociety@gmail.com
